Itinerary #2 - 3 days 2 nights, Broome to Broome (or 3 days 3 nights Broome to Broome with overnight in Derby).
(Itinerary can be reversed). Note: Pick up your hire car, or have your hire car delivered to hotel the night before so that you can get an early start.
Day 1.
Early start from Broome . Two and a half hour drive to Derby.
Explore Derby (Prison Tree, Jetty/Wharf). Fuel up if necessary at BP Colac, food available from Woolworths, across the road.
Drive along Gibb River Rd to Windjana Gorge turn-off, 145km from Derby, approx. 1 hrs drive from Derby. 30 minutes from turn-off to Windjana.
Explore Windjana Gorge (short walk to sandy banks to see Freshwater crocodiles takes approximately 20 minutes).
Drive back up Fairfield-Leopold Rd to Gibb River Road, to Mt Hart turnoff (approximately 1.5hrs).
Follow instructions on wooden hut, call in to homestead using HF radio. 1 hr drive to Homestead (51km).
Overnight at Mt Hart. Dinner at 7.30pm.
Day 2.
Wake to birdsong at Mt Hart, breakfast 6.30 - 8.30am.
Drive to Mt Mathew Gorge, liesurely morning exploring the gorge, swimming and watching the birds, then on to Yellowman Gorge to see the magnifienct Pandanus, and huge Boab tree.
Lunch at the homestead, picnic at Gorge or anti-pasti plate in the bar.
Liesurely afternoon canoeing on the river, sleeping in a hammock, and reading.
4.45pm. Collect champagne, cheese and biscuit hamper, and walk or drive to Sunset Hill to watch the Sunset.
Drinks in the bar, dinner at 7.30pm. Request packed lunch from Mt Hart for tomorrow.
Day 3.
A fairly long day, so early breakfast at Mt Hart, depart for Bell Gorge - 2 - 2.5 hr drive. Refuel if necessary at Imintji.
Explore Bell Gorge.
Either:

Drive back along Gibb River Road to Derby (approximately 3.5 hrs). Overnight in Derby or back to Broome (another 2.5hrs).

Drive to Windjana turnoff, drive to Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek (Fairfield-Leopold Rd), then back to Broome along bitumen (Great Northern Highway) - approx. 3.5 - 4 hrs from Fitzroy Crossing.
