  • Frequently Asked Questions about Mt Hart.



  • 1) Are the rooms air-conditioned?

    Yes, we have seven air-conditioned rooms (accommodation in these rooms

    is subject to availability). We also have ceiling or pedestal fans in all the rooms, with fly-screened windows to capture the evening breezes. During the majority of the Dry Season, the nights are cool.

    2) Will I need warm clothes?

    Yes, June and July can reach a minimum of 3 degrees celsius at night,

    although the days are pleasant at approximately 28 - 30 degrees.

    3) Are you licensed?

    Yes, we have a fully licensed bar with a terrific range of Western Australian wines,

    and spirits. (Please no BYO).

    4) Are there any smoking rooms?

    The bedrooms and dining rooms are designated non-smoking.

    You may smoke in the bar.

    5) What do I need to bring?

    Accommodated guests need only bring

    personal items. All linen, towels and soaps are supplied.

    6) Do you have a phone?

    Yes, there is a public phone in the bar.

    7) Do you have internet facilties?

    Yes, we have public internet facilities.

    We also have a DVD and a video with a range of nature DVDs and videos to watch.

    8) Do you have televison?

    We don't have free to air television, but we do have a DVD and video,

    with a good selection of documentaries about the Kimberley

    and movies.

    9) Do you provide lunch?

    Yes. We provide lunch if guests stay 2 nights or more

    (see meals under Accommodation page).

    We can provide a packed lunch, on request, but only if requested the night prior to

    departure.

    10) Can you accommodate special dietary requirements?

    Yes, but our supplies are ordered 10 days in advance, so we appreciate

     as much notice as possible.

    11) Do you have fuel?

    No. The nearest service stations are Imintji Store (1hour 15mins from Mt Hart) or

    Mt Barnett Roadhouse (2&1/2 hours from Mt Hart)

    12) Do you have AVGAS?

    Yes, but only available by prior arrangement, and ONLY for overnight guests.

    13) Are any of the rooms ensuite?

    No. All of our bathrooms are shared (lady's and gentleman's separate), but we do

    provide towelling bathrobes for transit to the showers.

    14) Do you have 24 hour power?

    Yes.

    15) Do you have power points in all the rooms?

    Yes.

     

    16) What is there to do?

    Swimming, canoeing, bushwalking, fishing, birdwatching, painting, photography, reading

    and relaxing.

    17) Do you have guided tours?

    No, but we supply maps for walkers. We find that most guests appreciate taking

    their time to do things at their own pace.

    18) Are you a working cattle station?

    No. We are solely a guest house. You may see some cattle on our access road,

    but these are scrub cattle, left from the days when Mt Hart was a station.

    Mt Hart is now a Conservation Park.

    19) Can we just drive in to have a look around?

    No. We are only open for accommodation/camping for overnight guests.

    There is a satellite phone at our turnoff, so you may call us from the Gibb River

    Road to find out if we have any vacancies for overnight accommodation,

    but we don't take day visitors, apart from morning tea or lunch guests on

    pre-booked scenic flights.

    20) Do you have camping?

    Yes we have camping facilities available

    21) Do I need travel insurance?

    Yes. Parts of The Kimberley are remote and isolated. You may be delayed due to

    flooding or inclement weather, and medical evacuations and vehicle

    retrievals can be extremely costly.

    22) Do you take credit cards?

    Yes, we accept Bankcard, Mastercard, AMEX and Visa.
